Three year old Foxwedge filly Delphox broke her maiden status when winning the maiden handicap at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

After being scratched several times recently due to bad barriers Delphox drew ideally in barrier one for her return to racing.

When Delphox began well from barrier one it allowed jockey Matthew McGillivray to maintain a forward position close to the running rail.

The race experienced Delphox had no problem taking the inside run when the leader Nine Cigars rolled away from the fence in the straight.

It took Delphox until inside the 150 metre marker to catch Nine Cigars before she was then able to go on to record a half-length win.

On this occasion Delphox was strapped by Chris Chandler.
