Four year old Easy Rocking gelding Smooth Move gave the impression there could be better wins in store for him when breaking his maiden status over 1350m at Ipswich.

His consistent run of placings was a strong pointer as to the chance Smooth Move had in this race when opening odds on at $1.60.

When the gates opened Smooth Move jumped on terms with the field before being allowed to settle in fourth position about four lengths from the leader at the 1000 meter point with Vanderwink setting solid pace rolling along out in front.

As they went by the 400 metre point Smooth Move had around five lengths to make up with young 3kg claiming apprentice Nick Keal in search of his first win for trainer Liam Birchley.

When Keal gave Smooth Move a crack with the whip at the 200 Smooth Move quickened nicely to go on and score by 2.25 lengths just like an odds on pop should.

Congratulations to the L D M Racing syndicate.

On this occasion Smooth Move was strapped by our new track rider Liz Warren.
