Three year old Rothesay gelding Rothman broke through for his first win since joining Liam Birchley’s stable. Rothman was purchased as a tried horse through an online sale and sold to new and current clients of the stable.

Having his second start this preparation Rothman returned to Ipswich for a class 1 over 1200m where he had raced very well previously at this course and distance. Although drawing out in barrier 8 jockey Ryan Wiggins found the fence on Rothman in the early part of the race tracking up in 7th place as they rounded the home turn.

Passing the 200 metre point Rothman was still in seventh position but let down impressively over the last 100 metres to record a strong win.

The solid pace early on in the race played into the hands of Rothman who can display a good turn of foot in his races when given the right conditions.

Congratulations to  Mr M A McLean, Mr C J Wessel, Mr A Commins, Mr I Mclean, Mr C J Shannon, Mr J S Celentane, B Dodson, Mr R J Chipperfield, Mr G Sullivan, Mrs W L Sullivan, Mr R S Heritage, Mr S D Pomerenke, Mr T J Lynch, Mr P C Mitchell, Mr G S Wright, Mr P A Wessel & Mr D E Oates.

On this occasion Rothman was strapped by Donna Fisher.
